WASILLA -- Live under a grey cloud sky, eight local acts participated in a battle of bands sponsored by Matanuska Music and Creekside Plaza.
Despite pouring rains and chilling temperatures, an eclectic group of music buffs ventured out to the Wasilla strip mall alongside the Parks Highway to enjoy the show.
Fans watched the event from under a tent, in their cars and in the rain. Some even took to the mud to dance.
The battle was the third of three events hosted at Creekside Plaza this summer.
Though the event was pegged as a battle, each act left a winner, receiving a free hour in the studio from Frozen Lake Studios and a Matanuska Music gift certificate.
The list of acts was also eclectic, ranging from hard-core rock to country.
Local acts Mercury, Strept, Scapegoat, The Young Raspberries, Mike Carlton, Suzy Crosby, Just Playin' Jazz and Crail performed.
Heather Wilkins, office and promotion manager for the Creekside Plaza, said that the event was a success and there are already plans to make the event bigger and better in the future.
