Be fuel-friendly

Things we can do to combat high fuel prices:

• Make one day a week a no-drive day.

• Employers can make hours more drive-friendly. When possible, go to four 10-hour days instead of five eight-hour days, saving one commute a week.

• Our government can stop adding things to our vehicles that reduce efficiency and mileage.

• We can require automakers to make engines more efficient, which results in better fuel mileage.

There are diesel cars sold in the United States that get 10 to 20 mpg less than the same car sold in Europe. How is that helping the environment?
