Begich should stay

To the editor:

OK, the prosecutors really screwed up in their zealous bid to find Mr. Stevens guilty. But that doesn’t change the fact that he admitted in the phone conversation with the Veco con man that he might have to pay a fine and maybe do some jail time. Lets not forget that.

So for the Republicans to ask Mr. Begich to step down so they can re-elect Mr. Stevens is wrong. The man has become an embarrassment to the state of Alaska. Yes, he has done some great things for Alaska, but he has become arrogant and made some pretty stupid comments in the past couple years. The man has done all he can for Alaska, we need some new blood and that is why I voted for Begich, even though I am a Republican.
