BERNICE MORT

Bernice Etna Rochelle (Clark) Mort, 89, passed away Sunday, July 31, 2005, following a decline since a May 10 heart attack, in her daughter's home near Wasilla.

A memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 13, in the Hilltop Assembly of God Church, one mile north of Houston.

Mrs. Mort was born Aug. 6, 1915 in Taloga, Okla. She was the daughter of Ira and Melissa (Gerard) Clark.

She married Gilbert Ogdan Mort on June 6, 1935, in Jarosa, Colo.

Bernice Mort was a credentialed minister with the Assemblies of God and accompanied her husband in pastoral ministry in Colorado, New Mexico, Minnesota and Alaska for more than 60 years.

She was a piano teacher for many years, both in Minnesota and in Anchorage.

She was a member and president for two terms of the Wasilla Senior Center.

She was also a volunteer in prison ministry, taking her accordion to play for services at the Mat-Su Pre-Trial Facility and the Palmer Correctional Center for several years.

Her husband, Gilbert Mort, and a son, Kenneth Duane, preceded her in death.

She is survived by Marlene and Levi Ratzlaff of Wasilla; Glenda and Jim McKim of Chicago, and Coleen and Larry Griswold of Carlinville, Ill.

She had eight grandchildren: Gary and Monique Ratzlaff of Wasilla; Greg and Brenda Ratzlaff of North Pole; Rochelle and J.R. Markle of Fairbanks; Scot McKim of Wisconsin; Maxine and Gary Mroch of Melrose Park, Ill.; Brad McKim of Melrose Park, Ill.; Todd and Christi Griswold of Morris, Ill., and Terri Griswold, missionary to Meldova.

Mrs. Mort also had 13 great-grandchildren and two great-great-granddaughters.
