Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

Former Anchorage resident Bessie Badger, 76, died Feb. 10, 2006, at St. Mary's Hospital. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Mrs. Badger was born Sept. 16, 1929, in Pierre, S.D., to Harvey P. and Freeda Robinson. She grew up in Pierre and attended school at Grandview Country School, graduating from Pierre High School.
She was united in marriage to Herbert Badger on Oct. 5, 1946, in Pierre, S.D. From 1962-1970, they lived in Palmer and Anchorage, moving back to Pierre in 1970.
Mrs. Badger is survived by seven sons, Carlin Clyle, Yukiko Badger, David Lee Badger, Michael Roselder Badger, Herbert Hale Badger and Meryl Harvey and Audrey Badger, all of Alaska, Monte Ray Badger of Hawaii, and Gary Alan and Denise Badger of Pierre, S.D.; four daughters, Donna Marie and Doyle Armstrong of Florida, Janice Faye and Randy Anderson of Arizona, Linda Jane and Daniel Geyer of De Smet, S.D., and Shirley and Gordon Dettman of Pierre, S.D.; four brothers, Harvey and Shirley Robinson, Scott and Charlene Robinson, Terry and Patricia Robinson, all of Pierre, S.D., and Franklin and Joy Lou Robinson of Rapid City, S.D.; one sister, Ramona and Robert Rodewald of Alaska; 33 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two children, Mary Elloise and Donald Patrick; one grandson, Dale; three great-granddaughters, Colleen, Lacy and Courtney, and daughter-in-law, Theresa. Anchorage Funeral Home and Crematory is handling arrangements in Anchorage.
