Best government money can buy

To the editor:

There’s a satiric joke that goes: “The U.S. government: the best government money can buy.” With the Citizens United and McCutcheon decisions by the U.S. Supreme Court, the Washington, D.C., culture of bribery and virtual blackmail that spawned this joke has become legally supported. Letting money control the election process makes representative government a façade for just another form of elitist aristocracy or dictatorship.

This is because use of money is factually just another rendition of use of force and compulsion — a character of despotism and tyranny since history began. American founders never intended for foreign or out-of-state special interests to control who is elected nationally or locally. This fully defeats the checks and balances inherent in why we are the United States of America, rather than a federal empire. Therefore, for freedom-loving people to fail to follow the money in judging the lurid political advertising, half-truths, and thinly veiled propaganda they are subjected to during elections, condemns everyone to “zombie democracy.”

If you are willing to bear the burden of being rationally free you can simply nullify the Supreme Court’s legalization of special interests buying American elections. This is by the simple means of not voting for anyone who accepts non-Alaskan money for state elections and international-entity- or foreign-country-controlled money for national elections, while warning likely candidates of this intention. Such a course requires you to overcome the rampant reading, mathematical, and scientific illiteracy in America that naturally prevents people from thinking for themselves (see U.S. National Center for Education tables for comparison of average literacy levels in developed countries. Read more online at 1.usa.gov/1qoFchT. See Table 403 in particular).

Of course, if you are a political zombie manipulated by giveaways and a dependence on government protection and intellectual guidance by experts/prophets of prejudice — in virtual repudiation of the U.S. Pledge of Allegiance — be the slave and freedom murderer that posterity will declare you to be.
