BETTY C. HANSEN

Wasilla resident Betty Cleo Hansen, 87, died at Colony Manor Assisted Living Home of complications from Alzheimer's Disease on April 8, 2004.

A memorial service was held for family and friends at Valley Funeral Home Chapel on April 13 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. A graveside service will be held today at 11 a.m. in Manchester Memorial Gardens in Great Falls, Mont. Pallbearers will be her sons Bob and Bill Hansen, son-in-law Jim Llopis, grandsons Dustin and Corey Hansen and nephew John Gaumer.

Mrs. Hansen was born Jan. 24, 1917, in McLean County in Butte Township, N.D.

She became a resident of Alaska in August of 2000 residing in Wasilla.

Mrs. Hansen was a member of the Lutheran Church of Ruso, N.D.

She was a quilter and loved to read books. She also loved to do the polka.

Her family wrote, "The family will always remember Betty for her beautiful handmade quilts which we all have on our beds. She was also a great story-teller, especially of her old farm days. She also was the family historian in her earlier years."

Mrs. Hansen is survived by her sister and brother-in-law Hazel and Myron Johnson of Garrison, N.D.; children and spouses, Cleo Gray of Wasilla, Lorraine and Jim Llopis of Santa Rosa, Calif., Bill and Sandie Hansen of Lonsdale, Ark., Bob and Connie Hansen of Cascade, Mont.; grandchildren and spouses in Alaska, De and Pete Cyril, Carolyn and Cliff Carlson, Joe and Shari Gray, Lennie and Dean Harris, Jim Gray, Don and Teresa Gray, Steven Gray; extended family in Alaska, Nancy Meehan, Ken and Mary Hutchinson, Nicki Brown and Don Hammond; grandchildren and spouses, Annette and Bill Gelvin of California, Jamie and Cori Llopis of California, Dustin and Corey Hansen of Montana, Marcie and Kerry Bearden of Arkansas, Heather Hansen of Arkansas; 26 great-grandchildren, 11 extended; seven great-great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and her great friend Bobbi Jean of Cascade, Mont.

Arrangements were made by Valley Funeral Home & Crematory in Wasilla.
