Beware mendacious piety — a poem

Beware ye those who choose to ignore

the passage in its entirety and hence its meaning;

Choosing to keep only that which pleases them

and which suits their purpose.

Fear them — for they are ungodly hypocrites

clothing themselves in false piety.

They are the greater danger to mankind.

Beware the spurious slanders

of those who would condemn to destruction,

those who choose a different path,

even while the reviled respectfully let their accusers choose their own.

Presumptuous words attributed to God;

Yet written and spoken only by man for his own self-aggrandizement.

Beware those who believe without question or intellect

the poison spewed by the self-righteous.

Beware the pomposity of those without

true intellect or goodness,

Who seek only to control those weaker of mind and spirit or

too apathetic to do other than accept without question or argument,

that which is deliberately misinterpreted and false.
