Stars edge Knights
WASILLA — The Soldotna Stars edged Colony 2-1 in a pitchers’ dual at Carl Fritzler Field in Wasilla on Friday.
Colony’s Damon Hammer threw seven strong innings, but Soldotna was able to score a pair of late runs to earn the win.
“Both pitchers threw well. There were not a lot of base hits,” Colony head coach Jordan Chadwell said.
Chadwell was particularly impressed with Hammer, one of the Knights top starters this season.
“He was changing speeds, hitting his spots. He seemed like he kept them guessing pretty well,” Chadwell said.
Hammer allowed only one earned run.
