WASILLA — In early April Alaska State Troopers recovered the remains of a Big Lake woman who had been missing for months. Now a Big Lake man is facing murder charges.
A Palmer Grand Jury indicted Adam Drew, 24, May 3 on charges of murder in the first degree, two counts of murder in the second degree, kidnapping and misconduct involving weapons in the third degree. All charges are related to the disappearance of Dolly Hampton. AST received a report of human remains found near Big Lake late in the evening on April 3. Later that month, the State Medical Examiner’s Office positively identified the remains as those of Hampton, 57, and the cause of death.
Hampton had not been seen since Dec. 6, 2018, and AST released a missing persons bulletin the following day. AST responded to the report of the human remains found April 3 at about 10 p.m.
After several months of investigation, which included multiple agencies, it was determined Drew was responsible for the kidnapping and death of Hampton, according to an online dispatch posted by AST Tuesday afternoon.
Drew has been in custody on charges from a separate, unrelated case since Jan. 3, according to AST.
Drew will be arraigned Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. on the charges related to Hampton’s death at the Palmer Courthouse.
