WASILLA — The fourth annual “Big ‘M’ Memorial Benefit” is from noon to 10 p.m., Aug. 17 at the Mug-Shot Saloon, 251 W. Parks Hwy., to raise money to help Tisha Jones.
A Valley resident, Jones was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2011, but her health insurance has proven inadequate to cover the cost of her treatment.
The annual fundraiser was created in honor of Marilyn Anderson to commemorate her lifetime of commitment to helping her neighbors, friends and patrons in times of need.
Last year, the fundraiser generated more than $28,000 for the family of George Gardner to help pay the costs associated with his fight against colon cancer.
Volunteers also are needed, as well as donors for the silent and live auctions.
The group has joined forces again this year with the Mat-Su Miners so organizations that are only able to donate to nonprofit groups may also give.
