Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

Longtime Talkeetna homemaker Billie Barge, 72, died Feb. 9, 2001, at Providence Alaska Medical Center.
Visitation took place Saturday, Feb. 17, from noon to 1 p.m., followed by a service at Talkeetna Assembly of God church with the Rev. David Sutton officiating. Burial will be at Talkeetna Cemetery. Fred Negus, Earl Negus, Roland Borge, Chris Borge, Jonathon Barnes and Mark Goodwin will serve as pallbearers.
Mrs. Barge was born Nov. 11, 1928, in Syracuse, N.Y., and had been a resident of Talkeetna since 1947. She was a member of Talkeetna Assembly of God Church, and enjoyed gardening, sewing, 3-D puzzles, card games, and keeping touch with family and friends through e-mail.
The family said: "She married Eddie Barge of Talkeetna, where they raised their family at Question Lake Homestead. Her grandchildren and dog Ginger were her special delight."
Mrs. Barge is survived by her sons, Fred Negus and Earl Negus of Talkeetna; daughters, Joyce Borge of Talkeetna and Caye Moberg of Anchorage; 11 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and very special family member, Philip Brandl of Anchorage.
