BILLIE G. BOWERSOX

Wasilla resident Billie G. Bowersox, 74, died Aug. 18, 2004. A memorial service was held Friday, Sept. 10, in the Valley Funeral Home Chapel with Elders Owen and Machant officiating.

Ms. Bowersox was born March 6, 1930, in Gladewater, Texas. She was raised in Kilgore, Texas, where she graduated from Kilgore High School. She moved to Anchorage in 1950 and lived there until 1994.

While living in Anchorage, she worked for 10 years for the Alaska Pioneer Home and then for the Alaska School District for 50 years, until she retired.

She was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Anchorage.

Her family said of her, "Billie was a wonderful mother, grandmother and friend. She loved caring for her flowers and her garden, collecting dolls and bone-china cups and saucers."

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Doug Sehm of Wasilla; sons and daughters-in-law, Robbie and Thelma Bowersox of Wasilla, Robert and Lynn Lewis Jr. of Willow; son, David Dwayne Lewis of Big Lake; sisters and brothers-in-law, Dela May and Cliff Sherrick, Julie and Jimmie Smith and Mary Lou and Bud Mayo and brother, Raymond Griffin, all of Dallas; grandson and his wife, Robie and Thelma Bowersox; grandson, Roy Martinez and granddaughter, Elisha.

Arrangements were made by Valley Funeral Home and Crematory in Wasilla.
