Bishop named VFW Teacher of the Year

PALMER — Pioneer Peak Elementary School teacher Brandy Bishop has been selected by The Veterans of Foreign Wars, Department of Alaska, as one of three teachers in the state to be receive the organization’s Teacher of the Year award.

One teacher from each category — elementary, middle and high school —is recognized by the VFW annually for “outstanding commitment to teach Americanism and patriotism to their students,” wrote Department Commander Clarence Albright in Bishop’s award letter.

Students and staff gathered to celebrate Bishop’s award at an assembly last week.
