Black market ecstatic!

To the editor,

Huge kudos to Palmer and Wasilla for banning commercial pot operations in the Valley. The pot growing Capitol of Alaska, no less. What comfort it is knowing local law enforcement will be allocating their energies between pot heads and real drug dealers. Uhhhgin! Meanwhile, the real culprits and dealers of crack and heroin will carry on! Woowhoo Black Market! With local law enforcement dividing their energies toward pot heads the real bad guys will have greater economic opportunities. That means the drug dealer neighbors just down the road can afford nicer cars, better benefits. And less interference from law enforcement. Yes! Surely, police must be pleased with these odds.

People are still gunna smoke pot folks. With no regulation of the pot industry, and it is an industry, kids remain exposed to unscrupulous drug dealers. In your neighborhood. The short sightedness of our central planners is astounding. Plus, valley residents give up potential tax dollars, support services, jobs, and regulation. Consider, too, that the tax dollars garnered by other, more forward thinking, communities’ pro-commercial pot industry will not be shared with us valley folks. Instead, our bedroom community will be sending their money to Anchorage. Uhgin. Haven’t we been trying to avoid that cash drain from the valley economy for years? Just sayin. Meanwhile, I gotta figure out what to do about the crack house drug dealers down the street driving nicer cars than me. You know, real first world stuff...
