‘Blessing’ was blessed

To the editor:

Thank you to all the churches and organizations that provided monetary donations, canned food donations or volunteer work to make the first Valley Thanksgiving Blessing in Wasilla a huge success.

We provided the fixings for a Thanksgiving meal to 850 families in the Valley. It takes many hands to make the work light, and we were fortunate to have an over-abundance of volunteers for this event.

Thank you to all the following for your efforts: Christ First United Methodist Church, Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Wasilla Bible Church, Church on the Rock, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Northgate Church, Wasilla Church of the Nazarene, Trinity Lutheran Church, Trailhead Wesleyan Church, St. David Episcopal Church, Word of Life Russian Church, Blood N Fire, Grace Communion International, Boy Scout Troop 359, Edge Fitness, Dr. John Boston, Food Bank of Alaska, GSLC Preschool, The Home Depot, Kaladi Coffee, Lowe’s, Next Step Program, Palmer Job Corp, Wasilla High School Honor Society, Palmer High School, Food Pantry of Wasilla, Wal-Mart, Spenard Builders Supply, Mat-Su Children’s Services, Alaska State Fair, Alaska USA Bank, KLT American and Asian Food, and many, many others who provided support and dropped off donations throughout the day.

We thank you for your generosity and support of this community\-wide effort to bless our neighbors. We look forward to the Christmas blessing Dec. 18.
