The blessings of life are unlimited when looking to Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior, but so many times people fail to realize that those blessings are there.
I like to look at Deuteronomy 28 verses 1-14 and see the blessings that God had for the children of Israel. Verse 1 says “now it shall come to pass if you diligently obey the voice of the Lord your God, to observe carefully all his commandments which I command you today, that the Lord your God will set you high above all nations of the earth.”
Moses, inspired by the Holy Spirit, goes on to tell of the blessings of obedience. Now, let’s hold that thought.
Now you may be saying, “now hold on there, those blessings are Old Testament, that’s for the children of Israel, I have a new covenant because I’m a child of God.” Yes, but the word of God says we have a far better covenant (Hebrews 8:6). So why would God give any less to the children of God that he gave to the children of Israel? Galatians 3:13 says, “…We have been redeemed from the curse of the law.”
The Christian’s commandment was given by Jesus to “Walk in love.”
If we as Christians walk in love we will keep every one of those commandments that was given to curb sin.
Many times Christians fail to realize the blessings we have through Jesus Christ.
Too many times we get caught up in the affairs of life and fail to see the importance of walking in love. In Matthew 15:8, Jesus told the scribes and Pharisees, “These people draw near to me with their mouth, and honor me with their lips, but their heart is far from me.”
Walking in love brings great blessings. Also it is important to stay in God’s word because the Bible says “if you look for me in earnest, you will find me when you seek me with all your heart.” As born-again believers we need to take that time to let the word nurture us.
So every one of those blessings that God gave in Deuteronomy 28:1-14, as a Christian, we can claim. Verse 2, “and all these blessings shall come upon you and overtake you, because you obey the voice of the Lord your God.” Then it goes on to say “blessed shall you be in the city, blessed shall you be in the country. Blessed shall be the fruit of your body, the produce of your ground ... blessed shall you be when you come in, blessed shall you be when you go out.” Verse 13, “... If you heed the commandments of the Lord your God...”
Christians have a hard time realizing the blessings that God has for them when they walk in love.
Jeremiah 29:13, “And you will seek me and find me, when you search for me with all your heart.”
Many Christians don’t see the blessings that God has for them in their life and if that is the case they need to look at their love walk and most certainly faith to receive those blessings. Many born-again Christians don’t have faith to receive all of God’s blessings, unbelief in God’s word is like waves of the sea, tossing to and fro, and that man will receive nothing. That’s what the Bible says.
So many times Christians in today’s society fail to practice God’s word. Jesus said he came to give life and give life more abundantly. Healing is the very core of the gospel of Christ, yet there are some Christians that say they don’t believe in divine healing. The Bible talks of abundant life, there again there are some Christians that can’t believe that God can help them in their daily personal needs. We need to allow God to work in our lives by doing our part and that is to walk in love, believe and have faith in his word so God can do what he says he will do for each one of us.
Keep your faith strong, stay in the word of God, the Bible, walk in love and all the blessings that God has for you are yours as a Christian.
