Blodgett respects Alaska law, salmon

To the editor:

I was fishing with Ray Blodgett on the day in question and Ray did check the regulations. I was cited on that day, but we went to court and our tickets where dismissed. I also was fishing with Ray on the Talkeetna earlier in the season for kings when a trooper stopped us and checked all our licenses and Ray’s paperwork. What I got out of that was the trooper’s envy for Ray’s boat we talked about after he left. So in my opinion, this is a driving force in all of this.

I also have followed the trial with disbelief as the case was never dismissed after our cases where dismissed. And if you would talk with Ray or his attorney, all the evidence that the judge would not let in for his defense and the changing of the statue he was charged with in the middle of the trial.

All I know is we have fished with Ray the last five years and he is an upstanding fishing guide with a total respect for the laws of Alaska and a great defender of the salmon in Alaska as well.

As for my opinion of the troopers and the judicial system, well, it leaves a lot to be desired and it has wrecked our coming back to Alaska.
