Great graters

On March 2, Troopers in Fairbanks were notified about a dangerous driver. A couple of state DOT workers were driving their graters and saw a truck driving the wrong way on the nearby offramp. One of the workers somehow made contact with the truck’s driver and smelled booze. That’s when the DOT workers “took action” to stop the truck from driving the wrong way down the expressway. The truck’s driver wasn’t going to be stopped by a couple of graters and apparently ran into one. Troopers showed up not long after and found the driver to be drunk. Surprise surprise. Troopers arrested and charged the 70-year-old with multiple crimes including DUI and providing false information to a peace officer.

Substantial inconvenience

On March 3, Troopers in Wasilla got a call about a disturbance. When they showed up to the location they found a 29-year-old who refused to exit their vehicle. What was the disturbance? The report isn’t clear, but there seems to have been some vindictive lover stuff going on. Apparently the disturber of the peace had stolen a domestic partner’s property “with the intention of withholding and/or damaging the property to cause substantial inconvenience.” What that means, we have no idea, but it sounds petty. The person was arrested for theft, criminal mischief and trespass. How’s that for substantial inconvenience for ya?

What’s in a name?

Troopers in Soldotna pulled an older model jeep over in the wee hours of March 3. They found some sort of equipment violation and expired registration tabs. Troopers made contact with the female driver and her male passenger. When asked for her name, the driver gave troopers a fake one. Seems like it didn’t take long for troopers to found out her real name and that she had an active $20,000 warrant for her arrest. Probations requested a search of her vehicle and found that she had meth in her possession. She was arrested on drug charges and a probation violation.

Hammer hands

On March 5, Troopers in Soldotna got a call about an unruly houseguest. A 28-year-old male was punching holes in the walls of a family member’s house and broke a door. The report doesn’t say what caused this sudden outburst of DIY home remodeling, but the man was arrested and charged with domestic violence and criminal mischief.

Let it out

The Fairbanks Daily News-Miner reports that on Feb. 16, police responded to a report of a woman yelling on South University Ave in Fairbanks. When they got to the location, the found the 29-year-old drinking from a plastic bottle of vodka. Police must have asked her why she was being so loud and she told them that she just “felt like yelling.” She was apparently underdressed for the weather and visibly upset. When police contacted her she would suspiciously dig around in her purse. What was she looking for? Probably her hypodermic syringe filled with meth. She was arrested and taken to a presumably warmer location.

From the capitol

Juneau police say that a 31-year-old male reported his vehicle had been rifled through and his knife was taken. Better than the alternative, though. He could have had his vehicle knifed through and his rifle stolen.

A 64-year-old female reported to Juneau police that she lost her wallet about two weeks ago. We suggest retracing your steps, ma’am. Sad to say, but she’ll probably never see that wallet again.
