Boating safety class via Zoom, Sept. 24-25

“Boat America,” a six-lesson course for recreational boaters, will be offered Sept. 24-25 via Zoom by the Eagle River Flotilla, United States Coast Guard Auxiliary.

The class will meet from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday and Sunday. Students may complete the optional final exam online at home after the class.

Subjects covered will include small boat handling, trailering, legal requirements including Alaska boating law, navigation rules, emergency procedures and personal watercraft considerations. The cost is $25, which includes the textbook and Eventbrite fee.

Early registration is encouraged so the flotilla has time to mail the textbook to the student before the class.

This course meets the requirements for safety certification in many states and some insurance companies will offer a discount to skippers who have completed the course.
