Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

Bob Lee and Agnes Wood met at the Berean Memorial Church in Irving, Texas. At the time, Bob was a student at the Theological Seminary and Agnes taught first grade at the Berean Academy. They were married in a beautiful ceremony in Irving on Aug. 1, 1963. In 1966, they left the warm climate of Texas and headed north they moved to Glennallen to help establish Alaska Bible College, currently located in Palmer Alaska. Bob taught classes and became the college’s first president while Agnes served as the librarian and cook.
In 1982, Bob became pastor of Lazy Mountain Bible Church in Palmer, where he served for 21 years. Being a Tennessean by birth and a country girl at heart, Agnes embraced the lifestyle of the Mat-Su. One of her favorite annual acclivities was being a food judge at the Alaska State Fair.
They both shared a love for adventure and traveled extensively throughout Alaska, the Lower 48 and around the globe. Their most recent trip was a memorable visit to the Holy Land in Israel.
Following retirement, they continued as short-term missionaries with Send International, serving in South Africa, Haiti and twice in Poland. Their last trip was to the Holy Land.
Bob and Agnes have three children, Andrew Lee and wife Nancy of Anchorage, Jenny Rowland and husband Dale of Fairbanks, and Penny Lee of Washington, D.C. They also have two grandsons, Dalton and Kade Rowland.
Their 50th Anniversary anniversary will be celebrated with an intimate gathering of family.
