George, Terrie, and Tammy invite the community to celebrate the 50th wedding anniversary of their parents’, Bob and Linda Plumley. The celebration is from 2 to 4 p.m., July 27 at the church where it all started, the original St John Lutheran Church, now the Colony Theater located at the Alaska State Fair.
Knowing each other since grade school, Bob and Linda were married shortly after Bob’s return from the Navy on July 25, 1964. They built their home on Plumley Road in 1974 on land given as a wedding present by Bob’s parents, and where Bob was raised. Bob worked for the Alaska Railroad and retired from the Eklutna power plant in 1997. Both Linda and Bob were active with the Palmer Moose Family Center, running the Christmas bingo charity fundraiser for years. At home games of the Mat-Su Miners, you will find Bob ferrying folks in on the golf cart and be greeted by flowers grown by Linda. With berries grown in their garden, Linda makes jam, which is requested by many a visiting baseball player.
The Plumley home is well known for celebrating each holiday with outdoor decorations. Bob and Linda take pride in hand-making many of those decorations for the community to enjoy, including the water wheel.
Light refreshments will be provided. After the celebration, folks are invited to join the Plumley’s at Hermon Brothers Field adjacent to the fairgrounds for the final home game of the Mat-Su Miners.
