Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

Wasilla resident Bob Gerald Cunningham, 60, died of lung cancer May 28, 2004, at his home.
Family and friends will have a celebration of his life at a later date. His ashes will be spread over X-Y Lakes in Talkeetna and the family home he built in the Willow/Talkeetna area.
Mr. Cunningham was born May 17, 1944, in Morrilton, Ark. He moved to Alaska in 1968 and had lived in Anchorage and Willow.
Mr. Cunningham was employed in the construction industry and traveled throughout Alaska in his work. He built many high-rise buildings in Anchorage.
His interests included fishing, nature, building anything anyone wanted, his grandchildren and most of all spending time with his disabled son.
His family wrote, "Dad was an accomplished craftsman with a love for Alaska nature. He especially loved fishing of all kinds and sharing that love with his family and friends. We will cherish the memories we shared creating memories with him. We miss you!"
Mr. Cunningham is survived by his wife, Vanessa Cunningham; children and their spouses, Sean Cunningham, Jamie Liston, Cher and Mike Potts, Shannon Cunnningham, Phil and Alysse Zimmerman; grandchildren Autumn Liston, Zallman Liston, Burgundy Rose Street, Sage Potts, Joshua Zimmerman, Amanda Zimmerman, Zane Zimmerman and Seth Zimmerman, all of Alaska; sisters Connie Wallace and Mildred Cantrell of California; niece, Lorie, of California; mother-in-law, Ronaele Liston; and many, many beloved friends.
Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of the Mat-Su, 3051 E. Palmer-Wasilla Highway, Wasilla, AK 99654.
Arrangements were made by Valley Funeral Home & Crematory in Wasilla.
