• 2000 Colony High School graduate Bob Macfarlane successfully defended his thesis and received a doctorate in chemistry Aug. 1 from Northwestern University. He has accepted a post-doctoral fellowship at Caltech University in Pasadena, Calif., and will work with Robert Grubbs, a previous recipient of the Nobel prize in chemistry. Bob is the son of David and Nancy Macfarlane of Palmer.
