A body was found at Big Lake Elementary Tuesday morning. The Alaska State Troopers released the identity Wednesday and called the death suspicious.
Devin White, 16, of Big Lake, is the deceased, troopers said. Troopers were notified at 10:53 a.m. Tuesday that an adult employee of the school had discovered the deceased person in the playground area of Big Lake Elementary.
“Troopers found no obvious signs of injuries or trauma, however evidence at the scene makes the death suspicious in nature,” troopers said.
The State Medical Examiner’s Office took possession of the body Tuesday to determine the cause and manner of death. The Alaska Bureau of Investigation is conducting the investigation, and next of kin was notified.
Troopers are asking anyone with information to call 907-352-5401.
On Tuesday, the school was on stay-put mode.
“There is no known connection between the person and Big Lake Elementary,” troopers said. “Big Lake Elementary School was placed in stay-put status by school officials for multiple hours today as law enforcement conducted their investigation in the area.”
