SUSITNA VALLEY — A body recovered Sunday by Alaska State Troopers at the mouth of the Susitna River has been sent to the state medical examiner’s office for an autopsy and identification.
The troopers received a call Sunday from a boater who happened on the body, said Megan Peters, spokeswoman for the troopers.
She said she didn’t know the gender of the victim, but two men went missing in the area within the last year.
Most recently, Scott Aslakson, 51, of Houston, went into the river while snowmachining in March. His machine was found, but searchers found no sign of him.
Last summer during a riotous Talkeetna Moose Dropping Festival, Jacob Larson, 22, of Nikiski, jumped from a railroad trestle and was not seen again after he went around a bend.
Another man still missing is snowmachiner Charles Palmer V, 30, who was separated from his group near Bald Mountain in April. The mountain is in the Talkeetna area.
