PALMER — The Mat-Su Borough has updated its list of roads fairing poorly as snow turns to mud and the Valley transitions to summer.
“The borough has several staff working long hours to fix or patch the abundant road problems occurring due to our wet, wet spring,” spokeswoman Patty Sullivan wrote in an update to the borough’s Facebook page.
Here’s a rundown:
• Caswell Lake Road is still closed.
• Oil well road is just thawing out. There’s water on several spots and the water is watching few soft spots.
• Three Bees is closed. Residents are using Bugaboo Circle for a detour.
• Juliana Drive is closed. Residents are using Alta Drive to Meadow Lakes for detour route around.
• Theodore Drive is closed. Residents can get in off Meadow Lakes Loop or in Sunrise Drive off Pittman Road.
• Dean Drive: The east end is impassable. The road is closed to two homes. Mud mats have either already arrived or are hopefully on the way.
• Elizabeth Drive is closed with a detour around on Schultz Drive and Lincoln Drive and Ridgecrest Road over mud mats, down to a single lane at two holes.
• Sunrise Drive off Pittman is getting a fabric and gravel fix to open up one lane. No truck traffic.
• June Lane: One lane is passable over mud mats; still passable.
• Stacy Street: One lane is passable. The crew just finished the fabric and gravel temporary fix. No truck traffic.
• Harlan Circle: The borough is going to assess after a caller said it was impassable.
• Rothbury Avenue is closed at the end. The road is half flooded and the other half is impassable to two homes.
• West Sheridan Circle has a temporary fabric and gravel fix with one lane passable.
• East McNeese Parkway has just one lane passable.
• Sue Lane has one lane passable over mud mats, but the borough might close it to use the mats on Elizabeth Drive. Detour: Perin to Dan to Fairview.
• Rain Avenue is down to one lane.
• S. Alder Drive has one lane passable over mud mats, but needs to extend the fix on both ends.
• Cardiff Lane has a sinkhole under one lane of the asphalt.
• Welch Way: The borough is trying to fix it to get one lane passable and hoped to have succeeded by Friday evening.
• Dan Joe Street is currently impassable. Crews were working to put mud mats and open one lane.
• King Fisher Lane: The borough is placing fabric and gravel to make one lane passable.
• Melody Lane is almost impassable. The borough planned to put in a temporary fix Friday to open up one lane.
• Fish Lakes Road at the very end the road and the Chickaloon Road intersection, California Creek glaciations have washed about 2/3 of the road. A temporary fix is in place with culvert work ongoing.
• Shaganoff Avenue was repaired with fabric and gravel.
• Pond Lily Lane has one lane passable on mud mats barely.
Willow area
• Lakeshore Drive is down to one lane over mud mats.
• Koppenburg Road has a temporary fix with fabric and gravel. One lane is passable.
• McKenzie Drive: The borough tried a fix with fabric and gravel but it got worse. One lane is barely passable.
• Rodeo Drive: One lane is passable.
• Center Street has one lane open and might need mud mats.
• Sun Valley Drive has a culvert flooded. Water lowered and is off the road.
• McCasey Drive had a flash flood. Crews responded, pumped and diverted the water. Residents are drying out for now.
