To the editor:
Regarding the May 29 article “Borough on a roll,” it’s great to see the borough stepping up to support transit projects.
Far too often when facing congestion and safety issues, the only solution transportation planners and policymakers propose involves more and wider roads. This usually comes despite plenty of evidence from hundreds of other communities that more lanes/roads do not yield less congestion — or greater safety — in the long run.
With the ever-climbing price of fuel, it’s a boon to our entire community when Mr. Sworts and other borough staff are willing to actively promote actions that help the bus and ridesharing systems. Let’s hope we see much more support for other transit options in the coming years.
