The Mat-Su Borough has issued an air quality alert for the Palmer area due to high winds. Here’s the complete alert, which was sent out at around 5 p.m. on Friday:
“The Matanuska-Susitna Borough is issuing an air quality advisory for Palmer and surrounding areas, valid from 4:30 pm, Friday, December 18, 2015, until the wind subsides. Due to the strong winds and dry conditions, the air quality in Palmer and sun-ounding areas may be unhealthy to hazardous.
CHILDREN, THE ELDERLY, AND PERSONS WITH EXISTING HEART OR LUNG DISEASE SHOULD STAY INDOORS AND REDUCE PHYSICAL ACTIVITY. THE GENERAL POPULATION SHOULD AVOID VIGOROUS OUTDOOR ACTIVITY.
