PALMER — The Mat-Su Borough held a special meeting Wednesday for an unscheduled review of Borough Manager John Moosey.
Following an extended meeting in executive session, Moosey confirmed that he will continue as borough manager.
“They want to see a better manager,” Moosey said. “I’ll be happy to be at work tomorrow.”
Moosey’s review was handled in executive session, which lasted nearly two hours. Moosey was removed from the meeting for the second half of executive session, and when the assembly members returned to the dias, they informed Moosey that his next evaluation would occur on May 5. During the section of the agenda reserved for comments, each member said that they had no comment.
The review, that had been scheduled to be held prior to the certification of the Nov. 5 election, was rescheduled to be held on Wednesday and Thursday, but assembly members came to a conclusion on Wednesday. Members of the public came forward and all who spoke on the issue of the manager’s review spoke highly of Moosey. Mat-Su Borough Assemblyman Jesse Sumner also moved to allow newly elected (but not yet in office) assembly members Tim Hale and Stephanie Nowers to be present for the discussion. Sumner’s motion passed on a 4-3 vote with outgoing assembly members Jim Sykes and Deputy Mayor Matthew Beck voting along with Tam Boeve against allowing the newly elected members to observe the proceedings.
