To the editor:
My name is Brenda Lampton I have lived in Alaska for 47 years. I have lived in District 2 for 22 years. I have been married for 30 years. My husband and I bought Property 22 years ago and built our dream home that we planned to live forever on.
Last month, I noticed the property next to us was having some activity on it and I thought it was a house. But two weeks ago I found out differently. It isn’t a house, it is a tall cellphone tower, at least 100 feet high. Since then, my whole life has been in turmoil.
My oldest son has done more than 50 hours of Internet research. He is saying that the Internet is full of horror stories concerning studies all over the world that conclude that RF emissions from towers are dangerous to human life. In some countries, towers are not allowed within 300 meters of human dwellings.
Gee, how about 150 feet, as our house is? The stress is unbearable.
This tower will surely decrease the value of my home. It is located 16 feet from my property line and is 90 feet from my garage. This thing is literally hanging over our heads. Now the FCC is stating there is nothing to be alarmed about.
Well, I don’t see a tower in the mayor’s yard or the president of FCC’s. Why should there be one in any subdivision?
Now, forget about the FCC telling you what you want to hear, let’s talk about what scientists and doctors say. Many studies strongly indicate that it causes cancer, brain tumors and Alzheimer’s. I went to the Mat-Su Borough Assembly meeting and spoke how I felt and a big, “Sorry, we messed up,” is all I got. “We’re working on these issues.”
Well, I don’t see them lowering my property taxes, fixing my marriage and family issues or stopping this tower progress. If one of those borough assembly members wants to buy my house, it is for sale.
The house was appraised for $285,000 one year ago, but could we get even close to that now? No.
Who is fixing this?
