Borough pools need support

To the editor:

I attended the Mat-Su Borough Rec/Parks/Trails Advisory Board meeting on Sept. 23 where the completed pool study (for both the Palmer and Wasilla pools) was presented. The advisory board tabled a vote to forward a resolution to the Mat-Su Borough to address needed pool renovations until its next meeting.

The 325-page pool study is available to the public upon request through the borough. The next meeting is scheduled for 5 p.m., Oct. 28 at the MTA building in Palmer. Attendees may also sign up to give a three-minute comment/statement.

Public comments by email are due by Oct. 21 and can be forwarded to Hugh Leslie and Jill Irsik at the borough at HugeLeslie@matsugov.us or Jill.Irsik@matsugov.us.

If you have a community interest in our pools, their future and possible renovations to make them safe and useable for our next generation, please voice your opinion.

The advisory board will vote to forward the resolution to the borough, and our community voices are needed. Please show your support for this needed service to our community.
