WASILLA — Willow-area residents who were forced to evacuate due to the McKinley Fire will receive the first official word regarding the state of their property Friday morning.

“The Mat-Su Borough will be partnering with other local agencies to deliver destroyed structure notification to residents affected by the McKinley Fire,” borough officials said in a release issued late Thursday afternoon.

Borough officials will be with the residents at the Menard Sports Center and the Upper Susitna Senior Center, the evacuation centers set up by the American Red Cross of Alaska. Staff will be available from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., or as needed according to the borough. Counselors will also be available.
