Boys seriously hurt in crash

PALMER -- Two teen-agers were seriously injured Wednesday evening when the four-wheeler they were riding collided with a car at the intersection of Palmer Fishhook Road and Werner Road.

A 13-year-old boy was taken to Providence Alaska Medical Center with critical injuries, Alaska State Trooper spokesman Greg Wilkinson said Thursday morning. The other boy, 15, was taken to Valley Hospital with serious injuries after the 8 p.m. crash.

The boys were operating the four-wheeler on the road when it collided with a 1992 Subaru Legacy driven by a 17-year-old girl, Wilkinson said. Neither boy wore a helmet, he said.

The driver of the Subaru was not injured. Troopers are continuing to investigate, Wilkinson said.
