PALMER — The Colony Knights boys’ soccer team scored its first victory of the 2016 season Saturday.
Cameron Shaw scored in the 68th minute to help the Knights grab a 1-0 nonconference victory over the Bartlett Golden Bears at Colony High School.
Freshman Kyle Dearborn set up the play, using a shot on goal to create the rebound for Shaw. Goalkeeper Chance Fannon earned the shutout in the Knights net.
The victory allowed the Knights to bounce back from Friday’s 2-1 loss to South Anchorage at Colony High.
South took the lead with a pair of first-half goals. Senior Ben Sande converted a penalty kick during the 60th minute to cut South’s advantage in half.
Colony (1-2-0) opened the season with a 2-1 loss to West Valley at The Dome in Anchorage late last month.
Cade Johnstone scored on a direct kick during the 42nd minute to supply the Colony goal.
Colony returns to the field to host Dimond Thursday at 7 p.m.
The Wasilla boys also hosted South Anchorage, falling to the Wolverines 4-0 on Saturday morning.
The Wasilla girls and boys host Ketchikan Thursday at 5 p.m. and 7 at Wasilla High.
