The Mat-Su Republican Women's Group is sponsoring a breast cancer awareness luncheon tomorrow at Evangelo's in Wasilla, with proceeds going to breast cancer research and awareness groups.
At the event, which begins at 11 a.m. and runs until 1 p.m., there will be a quilt raffle as well as auctions for local goods and services.
"It's a fund-raiser for breast cancer awareness, and it should be a good time," said organizer Pat Purcell.
"We've made reservations for 60, and we've only got about 15 tickets left," she added.
Purcell said that if all the tickets are sold, people are still more than welcome to attend, but they will have to eat off the menu.
They can still participate in the quilt raffle and auction.
The guest speaker is Nancy Dahlstrom, a state representative from the Chugiak/Eagle River area. Dahlstrom is a cancer survivor, Purcell said.
October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and the luncheon is one of several events scheduled for the month.
