The second-annual Breast Cancer Awareness Luncheon, hosted by the Mat-Su Republican Women's Club, raised more than $1,300.
The luncheon, held last Saturday at Evangelo's in Wasilla, was held in conjunction with National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, which is October.
All proceeds raised during the luncheon, which included a quilt raffle and an auction, was donated to the Mat-Su Breast Cancer Support Group.
Gerrie Tokar-Hines organized the event for the Mat-Su Republican Women's Club.
The keynote speaker at the event was Rep. Nancy Dahlstrom of Eagle River, whose sister is a breast cancer survivor.
Lt. Gov. Loren Leman and his family also attended the breast cancer awareness luncheon.
Karen Tucker delivered a prayer and Alice Massie followed with the pledge. Devin Buffington sang a heartwarming son before Judith Carmony, president of the Mat-Su Republican Women's Club, gave the welcome and introductions.
This is the second year the organization has hosted a breast cancer awareness luncheon in the Valley in conjunction with National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
