Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

Brenda Hope Stewart Joslin, of Joplin, died June 18, 2003, after an illness. She was 46.
Mrs. Joslin was born April 9, 1957, in Anchorage to Clifford Wayne and Wanda Mathis Stewart Robinson. She attended Jay High School then later attended community college. She was employed by Aggus, of Joplin. She taught a banking class in San Diego, Calif., for several years. On June 21, 1983, she married her true love, Lawrence Joslin of Palmer.
Her family said, "Brenda enjoyed many hobbies including, arts and crafts, working on the computer and taking care of all kinds of animals. She had a great love for her family and her home. Brenda will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her."
She was preceded in death by her father Clifford Wayne Stewart; brothers, Clifford and Larry Wayne Stewart; grandparents, Earl and Lula Mathis and Cecil and Alice Stewart; uncles, Earl Jr. Mathis and Billy David Mathis; and aunt, Barbie Smith.
Her survivors include her husband Lawrence; mother, Wanda Robinson, of Miami, Okla.; brothers, Steven Stewart of Palmer, Melvin Stewart and Mark Stewart, both of Anchorage, and Jerry Stewart of Greenfield, Mont.; as well as special friends, Jay Ellis of Oklahoma City and Ola Asher of Jay, Okla.
Services were held on June 24 at the Guildford-Thomas Funeral Home, in Commerce, Okla. Pastor Bob Wilkes officiated. Pallbearers were Charles Good, William Good, Tommy Thulin, Steve Hudspeth, Danny Mathis and Eldon Smith. Honorary pallbearers were Dallas Wall and Marshall Green. Interment is at the G.A.R.
