PHS grad to debut new CD at Vagabond Blues

Palmer High School graduate Emma Hill, who currently resides in Portland, will be back in Alaska debut her new album, “Meet Me At The Moon” at 6 p.m., today at Vagabond Blues in Palmer. At just 22 years old, this is her third full-length album. Sponsored by the Palmer Arts Council, tickets are $10 for students and $15 for non-students, and available at Fireside Books and Matanuska Music.

Toastmasters meets Tuesdays

WHS hockey gun show on tap

Wasilla Hockey Boosters will host their annual gun show from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Jan. 15-16 at Wasilla High School. Admission is $5 and the show is expected to have about 150 vendors with lots of tables.

Palmer Lions Club 44th annual gun show

Palmer Lions Club 44th annual gun show is March 12-13 at Raven Hall on the Alaska State Fairgrounds. The annual event includes more than 300 tables of guns, knives and outdoor gear, as well as a free chance to win a fishing charter, hourly door prizes and a rifle raffle. The event is from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., March 12 and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., March 13. Park at the state fairgrounds purple gate and a free shuttle will deliver people to Raven Hall. Ski and snowboard at Alyeska

Mat-Su Ski and Snowboard Club Inc. is sponsoring a program on alternating Saturdays beginning Jan. 15. For $300, participants receive round-trip motor coach transportation, lift tickets and two lessons for eight outings. Participants requiring rental equipment will be charged an additional $120. moves to new location

The First Church of Christ Scientist would like to invite the community to visit the new Christian Science Reading Room, formerly located at the Creekside Plaza, now located to the corner of Lamont and Wesseling Circle in Wasilla. Hours of operation are Tuesday through Thursday Noon to 3 p.m.

Wasilla museum closed until February

The Dorothy G. Page Museum, 323 North Main St., is closed and will re-open Feb. 9. While the museum is closed, staff will conduct an inventory of collections, clean various objects and begin work on updating many of the permanent exhibits. The museum will open at 9 a.m., Feb. 9 and will feature its annual Iditarod Art Exhibit. Free Friday admission for Mat-Su Borough residents resumes in February, too. Alaska NPDA to attend leadership conference

The National Private Duty Association (NPDA), the nation’s first association for providers of private pay home care, will be host a leadership meeting and training in conjunction with the 2011 Annual Leadership Conference in Las Vegas. NPDA is offering a $1,000 travel stipend for Alaska chapter officers to attend. The state chapter will give private duty home care providers in Alaska an opportunity to work cooperatively on important legislative issues, share resources with other agencies and participate in core training and education programs.
