Learn to prepare 2010 income taxes, and then work with AARP trained and certified volunteers at Valley sites. Trainings are 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Palmer Masonic Lodge, 1022 South Cobb Street, on the following Saturdays: Dec. 4, Dec. 11, Jan. 8 and Jan. 15.

Kettler receives

Certified Residential Specialist designation

Dody Kettler has been awarded the Certified Residential Specialist (CRS) designation by the Council of Residential Specialists, the largest not-for-profit affiliate of the National Association of Realtors. Realtors who receive the CRS designation have completed advanced courses and have demonstrated professional expertise in the field of residential real estate. Home buyers and sellers can be assured CRS designees subscribe to the strict Realtors Code of Ethics, have access to the latest technology and are specialists in helping clients maximize profits and minimize costs when buying or selling a home.

F. Robert Bell and Associates hired Dan Simpson, P.E., as senior civil engineer responsible for managing the Civil Engineering Department.

Simpson has more than 23 years in planning, design, project and engineering practice management working in Alaska with federal, state, municipal and private clients.

His project development experience covers all phases, including planning, environmental documentation, design and construction.

The majority of his career has focused on transportation projects with the last two years spent leading the engineering team on the bullet line gas pipeline project.

Physician appointed to national panel

Barbara Doty, M.D., has been elected to the American Academy of Family Physicians’ board of directors for a three-year term.

Doty is a founding member and senior partner at Providence Matanuska Health Care in Wasilla, where she has been in practice for 25 years. She has experience with many family medicine specialties, ranging from obstetrics to geriatrics.

The American Academy of Family Physicians is the national association for family doctors. It is one of the largest national medical organizations, with more than 94,600 members in all 50 states. The mission of the AAFP is to improve the health of patients, families and communities by serving the needs of members with professionalism and creativity.

Doty graduated with a bachelor’s degree in zoology from Washington State University in Pullman, Wash. She earned her medical degree from the University of Washington School of Medicine and completed her family medicine residency at the University of Colorado Family Practice Residency.

Doty has completed fellowship programs in rural medicine, integrative medicine and faculty development.

She is board certified by the American Board of Family Medicine and is also a certified medical acupuncturist.
