Valley Board of Realtors announces 2010 honors

• The Valley Board of Realtors has selected Chelsea Lance-Westerberg, ad coordinator for Homes and Land Magazine, as its 2010 Affiliate of the Year. The award is given to an individual who displays a strong sense of affiliate spirit and contributes high attendance and participation with the board. They display consistence assistance and continued support in upholding the values of the Valley Board of Realtors.

• The Valley Board of Realtors also selected Brad Cole, Associate Broker at Keller Williams Realty Alaska Group, as the 2010 Realtor of the Year. This award is given to an individual who displays a strong sense of Realtor spirit, high principles, ethics and good real estate practices, leadership qualities with the local, state and national associations of Realtors, involvement in civic activities and strong business accomplishments.

Valley Community for Recycling Solutions reopens Wednesday

Valley Community for Recycling Solutions on the Palmer-Wasilla Highway at 49th State Street will be closed the first week of December. The center will re-open Wednesday, Dec. 8 at its new site, 9465 Chanlyut Circle, down 49th State Street (turn right before entering the MSB Central landfill. For more information, call 745-5544.

American Red Cross open house Thursday

The American Red Cross of Alaska is planning an open house at its new Wasilla location from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday at 851 E. Westpoint Dr., Suite B9.

U.S. Post Office mail deadlines

U.S. Post Office deadline for First Class Mail is Dec. 20. For Priority Mail, the deadline for delivery by Christmas Day is Dec. 21. And for Express Mail, the deadline is Dec. 22, and the deadline for Parcel Post mail is Dec. 15.

Christian Science Reading Room opens new location

The First Church of Christ Scientist would like to invite the community to visit the new Christian Science Reading Room, formerly located at the Creekside Plaza, now located to the corner of Lamont and Wesseling Circle in Wasilla. Hours of operation are Tuesday through Thursday Noon to 3 p.m.
