Ladies Night at Sportsman’s Warehouse is Feb. 10

Wasilla Sportsman’s Warehouse will host another Ladies Night event from 7 to 9 p.m., Feb. 10. The event will feature entertaining seminars, activities and product discounts, as well as a variety of giveaways and drawings for merchandise, outings and trips.

Fantasy author to sign books

Fireside Books in Palmer will host a book-signing event for Brandon Mull from 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. Feb. 12. Mull is a bestselling author of children’s fantasy literature, most notably the Fablehaven series.

Alaska Farm Bureau annual meeting is Feb. 16

Mat-Su Chapter of the Alaska Farm Bureau Annual Meeting and Banquet is from 6 to 10 p.m., Feb. 16 at the Elks Lodge at Finger Lake in Wasilla. Members and one guest are free. Additional guests are $20 each.

Harrison hired to head AI-TC

Alaska Inter-Tribal Council has hired Chickaloon resident David Harrison as its new executive director. He was elected chairman at its Dec. 4, 2010, annual meeting. After he familiarized himself with the office, policies, files, essential programs and financial documentation, Harrison provided the executive council with a report. Based on that work, council members asked him to step down as chairman and take on the day-to-day operations as executive director.

Mat-Su Regional Medical Center will hold an open reception and welcome the public to meet the newest physicians on the Mat-Su Regional Medical Center staff.

Shred it up at Wells Fargo

The Better Business Bureau’s free document shredding is coming to the Mat-Su. From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., April 16 at Wells Fargo Bank, 1701 E. Parks Highway, people can drive up and drop off up to three bags or boxes of unwanted documents per person. Items will be securely shredded free on-the-spot by Shred Alaska. Wasilla museum closed until February

The Dorothy G. Page Museum, 323 North Main St., is closed and will re-open Wednesday. While the museum is closed, staff will conduct an inventory of collections, clean various objects and begin work on updating many of the permanent exhibits. The museum will open at 9 a.m., and will feature its annual Iditarod Art Exhibit. Free Friday admission for Mat-Su Borough residents resumes in February, too. For more information, contact 373-9071.
