Wasilla’s Sportsman’s Warehouse, 1901 E. Parks Hwy., will host a Christmas with Santa event from noon to 5 p.m. today. Co-sponsors of the event include Devery Prince Allstate Agency and Valley Radio KMBQ 99.7.
The festival will feature free photos with Santa Claus from 1 to 5 p.m., local school choir performances singing Christmas Carols, an Iditarod dog sled team on exhibit, kids’ games and prize raffles. Santa will arrive via the LifeMed Alaska helicopter, and a free raffle will be held for rides on the helicopter as well.

Bouncing Bears has relocated to a larger building with two party rooms and a larger play area. The business started in 2007 in Palmer as a small 3,000-square-foot warehouse off the Palmer-Wasilla Highway. After six months, the business expanded into a 5,000-square-foot building. Bouncing Bears has since opened two locations in Anchorage. Most recently, the Valley location moved in November to a new 7,000-square-foot building. Mat-Su Borough employee Idris Van Sant was re-elected secretary of the Alaska Association of Assessing Officers at the group’s annual membership meeting held in Juneau this last month. Idris is assessment records supervisor for the borough and has served with the AAAO as treasurer and secretary for many years. The AAAO is a professional organization that works throughout Alaska to promote and administer fair and equitable property tax rolls on an annual basis.

Participation in the accreditation process is voluntary. Accreditation status signifies the facility has been reviewed by an independent agency that recognizes the laboratory’s commitment to quality testing for the diagnosis of heart disease.
