Wells Fargo names Rogers Alaska community affairs manager
Wells Fargo has named Dana Rogers community affairs manager for Alaska. Rogers will manage Wells Fargo’s Alaska charitable contributions program, volunteer event coordination and community support programs and initiatives.
Rogers has been with Wells Fargo for more than 10 years.
She has served as a marketing consultant responsible for the company’s largest sponsorships and community engagement events in Alaska. She earned a bachelor’s degree in marketing and organizational management from the University of Minnesota, Duluth.
Rogers has served in the community as a United Way “Day of Caring” coordinator, Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race Teacher on the Trail committee member and Bartlett High School student mentor.
‘Alaska Small Business Resource Guide’ available
From a martial arts school in Anchorage to a village store serving numerous communities in Southwestern Alaska, small business thrives in all corners of the state.
The “2011 Alaska Small Business Resource Guide” features stories about successful businesses and the local entrepreneurs running them. It also includes helpful tips and important information integral to helping companies flourish.
The guide is a joint effort between First National Bank Alaska, the Alaska Small Business Development Center and the Alaska Journal of Commerce. Free copies are available at First National branches.
Lessons learned from off-grid homes workshop
Alaska Center for Appropriate Technology continues its “Path to Net Zero Energy” series with a Wednesday workshop, 4701 Begich Circle, Wasilla.
At the workshop, Richard DeBusman, Victor Guillot, and George Menard will share information about “Lessons Learned from Off-Grid Homes.”
The daylong workshop costs $80 for general admission, $40 for students and ACAT members, and $225 for residential endorsement holder continuing education certificate. Scholarships are available for both general and student admission.
Topics discussed during the workshop will include: how to meet Net Zero Energy in Alaska; planning and designing solar and wind systems for Alaska; thermal shell designs to attain Net Zero Energy; calculating energy load and sizing photovoltaic and wind systems; and equipment for renewable energy that survives Alaskan conditions.

Booth space available for July 9 garden fair
Booth space is available now for the second annual Mid-Summer Garden and Art Faire, set from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., July 9 in downtown Palmer.
This year’s theme is “Creating a Fertile Networking Environment for Gardeners and Friends” and funds raised benefit the Mat-Su Special Santa Program, which gave gifts to 3,500 Mat-Su Valley children in 2010. Booths costs $100 for the day.
