Mr. Lube and Uniroyal Tire donate $1,070 to support WHS
Wasilla High School has received $1,070 in both funds and equipment from Mr. Lube and Uniroyal Tire. Since 2000, Uniroyal and the program’s participating dealers have donated nearly $14 million in funds and equipment, including over one million soccer balls, to more than 3,000 youth soccer leagues nationwide.
Alaska Small Business Resource Guide available
From a martial arts school in Anchorage to a village store serving numerous communities in Southwestern Alaska, small business thrives in all corners of the state.
The “2011 Alaska Small Business Resource Guide” features stories about successful businesses and the local entrepreneurs running them. It also includes helpful tips and important information integral to helping companies flourish.

Alaska Restaurant & Retail Association announces Wasilla Chapter
The Alaska Restaurant & Retail Association is proud to announce its Wasilla Chapter, headed by Discount Smoke Shop Manager, Lila Quesenberry. The new statewide association announced it’s formation a little over a month ago, with over 50 members and growing, which range from Wendy’s Restaurant’s to small retailers, like Discount Smoke Shop in Wasilla and Percy’s Liquor in Juneau.

NMS recognized as leading minority-owned business
NANA Management Services, a sister company to NANA Construction in Big Lake, has again been recognized as one of the top minority-owned businesses in the country. This is the third year in a row NMS was included in DiversityBusiness.com’s “Top 500 Diversity Owned Businesses in the U.S.” list. The award is based on company’s business performance, annual gross revenue and status as a minority-owned business.
NMS ranked 62nd in the list of 500 minority-owned businesses in the nation, making it the top ranked Alaska business. It also achieved the third highest ranking for an American Indian/ Alaska Native owned company. According to DiversityBusiness.com, more than 650,000 businesses were considered for the listing.
