WASILLA — Bristol Palin, an author, political blogger and former reality TV star from Wasilla, announced on Christmas Eve that she’d given birth to her second child the day before.

“My sweet Sailor Grace was born yesterday, our family couldn’t be more complete,” Palin posted on Instagram on Thursday.

Palin, 25, is the daughter of former vice presidential candidate, Wasilla mayor and Alaska governor Sarah Palin and four-time Iron Dog champion Todd Palin.

Palin’s mother posted a congratulatory note on Bristol’s blog welcoming her new granddaughter.

“Oh, perfect love! The best gift ever!” Sarah Palin wrote. “Thank you, Bristol, for your strength and good heart and your love of life. The most important people in Bristol’s life were there to witness the miracle of Sailor Grace Palin’s arrival last night.”

The post included photos of Sarah and Todd Palin cuddling with the new baby as well as Bristol Palin’s son, Tripp, holding his new sister.

Bristol Palin writes about life and politics on her blog, patheos.com/blogs/bristolpalin. She was a contestant on “Dancing with the Stars” and starred in a reality show about living as a single mother called “Bristol Palin: Life’s a Tripp.” In 2011, she released a memoir titled “Not Afraid of Life: My Journey So Far,” in which she described her personal life and talked about her mother’s failed vice presidential campaign.

She was engaged to Medal of Honor recipient Dakota Meyer, but the wedding was called off in May, according to a post on Bristol’s blog. Earlier this month, Palin and her former fiancé Levi Johnston had a court date in Palmer over custody of their son Tripp, who was born in 2008. Palin’s teen pregnancy with Tripp was a major issue during the 2008 presidential campaign.
