PALMER - A pair of Anchorage brothers find themselves facing recommended charges of attempted first-degree murder after allegedly firing a gun at a car full of people, including an infant.
Allen Michael Page, 18, and his 16-year-old brother Travis Page engaged in a physical altercation with the occupants of another vehicle a little before 8:40 p.m. Sunday at the Glacier View Tesoro gas station, said Lt. Thomas Remaley of the Palmer Police Department. All parties then left, the Pages in a red Chevy Tahoe and the alleged victims in a blue Ford Thunderbird.
On the road, the altercation escalated when Travis Page, who was sitting in the front passenger seat, retrieved an Intratec 9mm handgun from under his seat, an arrest affidavit reports.
“Travis Page admitted firing a single shot, then handed it to his brother,” the affidavit says. Allen Page then fired more rounds at the Thunderbird.
The occupants of the Ford, three adults and an infant girl, reported the driver of the Tahoe, whose description is a match for Allen Page, fired a handgun about four times, then turned off the road, the affidavit says. Those in the Thunderbird reported hearing a “ting” after two of the shots, believing a bullet struck the underside of the vehicle.
The 18-year-old passenger in the Tahoe said she saw the driver fire the handgun at least twice at the other car, according to the arrest affidavit.
When questioned by police, Travis Page said “he fired the handgun after only being fired upon by the occupants of the blue Thunderbird,” the affidavit says. Police found four spent 9mm shell casings on the roadway where the shooting reportedly happened, and the passenger in the Tahoe did not report anything about shots being fired at the vehicle she was riding in.
Allen Page said he could not recall the incident and denied shooting at anyone, the affidavit says.
Allen and Travis Page were each booked into the Mat-Su Pre-Trial facility on suspicion of four counts of attempted first-degree murder, three counts of third-degree assault and one count of misconduct involving a weapon. They are each being held on $200,000 cash-only bail.
