PALMER — Steven Sensley blasted Mat-Su’s winning streak Thursday night.

The Anchorage Bucs outfielder smacked a grand slam in the seventh inning to lead the Bucs to an 11-8 come-from-behind victory at Hermon Brothers Field in Palmer.

The Miners had won five straight before the loss, Mat-Su’s first since June 9.

Mat-Su had built a 5-0 lead in the second inning, before the Bucs jumped back in with four runs in the fourth.

The Miners finished with 10 hits and eight runs in the loss. Josh Bissonette led the Miners at the plate, finishing 3 for 4 with two runs and two RBI. Cam Montgomery also had three hits in the game. Bissonette, Levi Jordan and Garrison Schwartz also scored two runs each. Josh Rolette also drove in two runs.

Eleven runs is the most allowed by the Miners pitching staff this season. In the first seven games of the summer, Mat-Su surrendered a combined 12 total runs.

Mat-Su returned to the field to face the Anchorage Glacier Pilots Saturday at 10 p.m. in the annual summer solstice game at Mulcahy Stadium in Anchorage. Results were not available prior to press time.

The Miners return to Mulcahy Sunday at 7 p.m. to face the Bucs, and are back at home Monday at 7 p.m. to meet the Eagle River-Chinooks at Hermon Brothers Field.
