I would like to express my support for Janet Kincaid and Peter Burchell, who are running for seats on the MEA board. I’ve met them both, and having them on the board together would bring a breath of fresh air to the organization. The MEA needs some fresh ideas now. What once was a vibrant organization has become stale and rigid.
Over the past year, I’ve seen the organization move from one bad decision to another, all based on faulty reasoning. Huge efforts and large expenditures have gone into public relations campaigns, partisan and politicized ballot “advisories” (some costing over $100,000 to produce) to try to force through and then cover up these decisions.
What Janet Kincaid and Peter Burchell have to offer are new ideas, open minds, and, a quiet competence that cuts through pre-judged conclusions and political gamesmanship. They deserve this chance to turn MEA into an organization its members can be proud of, and we, the members, deserve the chance to see it happen.
