Burton Charles Biss, 93, passed away on September 22nd at home in Wasilla, Alaska.

Burton was born on August 4, 1927 in Cato, New York to Herbert A. Biss and Mary A. Biss. He graduated from Cornell University as well as Cornell Law School. Burton worked as a trial attorney with various law firms including Biss and Holmes, where he worked until his retirement in 1995. Burton took part in the Naval Air Corps V-5 Program in 1945 during World War II.

He had a lifelong interest in fishing and hunting, first as a young man in upstate New York, then in Alaska after moving here in 1952. He enjoyed being outdoors either alone or with family and friends.

He also enjoyed gardening throughout his life. Growing vegetable gardens and apple trees in Alaska, and later spent part of each year planting gardens and fruit trees at the ranch in Oregon. Woodturning, building stonewalls, and trapshooting were also enjoyed hobbies.

Burton is survived by his wife, Patricia Biss of Wasilla; sister, Audrey Ferris of New York; son and daughter in law, Allison (Al) and Shelley Biss of Anchorage; daughter, Lee Ann Poro of Arizona; and his three grandchildren.

A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date. Family requests memorial donations be made to the American Heart Association.
